Magazine & EventsA wide range of events takes place in St Mary's each year, including a diverse series of concerts, exhibitions, and illustrated lectures. Many of these feature in the church's monthly magazine, Old+New.Old+New MagazineOld & New is the monthly Magazine of the churches of St Mary de Haura, New Shoreham and St Nicolas, Old Shoreham. The Magazine copy is collated and edited by the Vicar and then professionally designed and presented by Vince Bamford, a member of the congregation of St Nicolas' Church. St Mary's Heritage 2010St Mary's Heritage is a series of free lectures for the whole community, given in St Mary's. This year’s theme is ‘All Things Bright and Beautiful’ – a celebration of the natural world to mark the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity 2010. The 2010 Heritage lectures are: Wednesday 5th May 7.30 pm Shoreham’s local landscapes by Geoffrey Mead, Convenor of Local History and Landscape Studies, Centre for Community Engagement, University of Sussex Wednesday 16th June 7.30 pm Nature’s Mirror – art and the human soul by Fleur Dorrell, Head of Faith and Policy, Mothers’ Union Thursday 8th July 7.30 pm Biodiversity is life – biodiversity is our life by Dr Dan Danahar, Environmental Co-ordinator, Dorothy Stringer High School Brighton, and organiser of Brighton and Hove’s Big Nature project Thursday 5th August 7.30 pm 'Our new National Park' – a presentation by Liz Ballard, Head of Communications and Engagement, South Downs National Park Authority Wednesday 15th September 7.30 pm Hive of activity – new studies of honey bees by Professor Francis Ratnieks, Head of the Laboratory of Apiculture, University of Sussex
Further information: Marion Standing Telephone: 01273 440114 E-mail: ![]() ![]() Adur Festival 2010The theme of this year's project at St Mary's was 'All Things Bright and Beautiful', a celebration of the United Nations International Year of Biodiversity in St Mary's wonderful ancient churchyard. The events included sculpture, photography, a wildlife exhibition, and a children's trail. St Mary's also hosted the 'Taster Exhibition' for the Adur Art Trail, open throughout the Adur Festival, which showed a selection of work by artists exhibiting in the Art Trail.
