Magazine & EventsA wide range of events takes place in St Mary's each year, including a diverse series of concerts, exhibitions, and illustrated lectures. Many of these feature in the church's monthly magazine, Old+New.Old+New MagazineOld & New is the monthly Magazine of the churches of St Mary de Haura, New Shoreham and St Nicolas, Old Shoreham. The Magazine copy is collated and edited by the Vicar and then professionally designed and presented by Vince Bamford, a member of the congregation of St Nicolas' Church. St Mary's Heritage LecturesSt Mary's Heritage is a series of free lectures for the whole community, given in St Mary's. This year's theme was 'Seeing the Light' – a celebration of stained glass old and new and the stories hidden in our windows. The 2009 Heritage lectures were: Thursday May 28th 7.30 pm Sussex in the Light – county landscapes throughout the day... and night by Geoffrey Mead, Convenor of Local History, Centre for Continuing Education, University of Sussex Wednesday June 10th 7.30 pm Celtic Twilight – an evening of music and storytelling exploring the life of medieval mystic Hilda of Whitby by June Boyce-Tillman, Professor of Applied Music, University of Winchester Thursday July 23rd 7.30 pm Windows onto the World – exploring the art of St Mary's stained glass by Fleur Dorrell, Head of Faith and Policy, Mothers’ Union Wednesday August 12th 7.30 pm Letting in the Light – making and restoring stained glass by David Randall, Opus Stained Glass, Poynings, West Sussex Saturday September 12th (Friends of St Mary's Festival Day) 2.00 pm Shoreham in the Naughty Nineties – a backward glance at work, play and other exciting bits from the 1880s to the turn of the century by Trevor Povey, Local Historian and Guide
