Music plays an important part in the worship and
life of St Mary's. The acoustics in the church are ideal for music-making,
and it provides a perfect setting for concerts large and small. The church
has a fine 3-manual Norman & Beard organ of 1894 (restored in 1994),
and a Bechstein grand piano.
Ross Williams was appointed Director of Music to St Mary's, New Shoreham and St Nicolas's, Old Shoreham in 2007.
St Mary's Choir meets to practice every Friday evening at 7.30 pm in the church. A wide repertoire of music from all centuries is used during the Church’s year. For major festivals and special occasions, the choir is joined by members of the choir of St Nicolas, Old Shoreham and others singers in the town. A large community choir (St Mary's Christmas Singers) rehearses from November each year to sing at the Town Carol Service on Christmas Eve.

ability is an advantage, but help may be given
with this if needed. Please do contact Ross Williams, Director of

Photograph in Marlipins Museum Music at St Mary de Haura (formerly the St Mary de Haura Friends of Church Music) exists to support the musical foundation of St Mary’s (Director of Music and Choir) at services and concerts. They also promote other vocal and instrumental concerts. Social gatherings and other special events are arranged throughout the year. St Mary's is an ideal venue for concerts and recitals, especially because of the acoustics. These take place throughout the year and we produce a leaflet which is regularly updated and available in church.
If you would like to receive recital and concert details by e-mail, please contact Ross Williams, Director of Music, with your email address. For forthcoming organ recitals in St Mary's, see Organ Recitals (external site). For future local and national recitals, see www.organrecitals.com (external site). Members receive a copy of the
newsletter and details of all services
and concerts.

The Adur Arts Forum presents a series of concerts each Autumn in the church. The Adur Arts Festival, during the first two weeks in June each year, uses St Mary’s as a venue for a variety of events in the Festival programme. |
